Summary of Practice

Mr. Contreiras’ practice focuses on land use and environmental issues, including assisting in the preparation and review of environmental impact reports, technical studies, and other documents in compliance with CEQA and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Mr. Contreiras also assists in the representation of the firm’s clients in litigation arising under CEQA and NEPA.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Contreiras was an associate with the Los Angeles office of Richards, Watson & Gershon. In this role, he represented cities and public agencies on land use, natural resources, and environmental matters, and served as assistant city attorney to local planning departments and commissions.

While in law school, Mr. Contreiras was an editor of the UC Irvine Law Review, and worked as a research assistant on emerging issues in habitat conservation planning, endangered species, and protected species on public lands. He also participated in the Environmental Law Clinic and had an internship with the Land Law Section of the California Department of Justice. In these positions, he worked on litigation involving the California Coastal Act, regulatory takings, and the public’s use of trails on public land.
