NEPA

GDB has a reputation throughout California for effectively handling environmental planning matters involving The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance for a wide range of project types.  The firm advises both private-sector and public agency clients on NEPA compliance in relation to large-scale, master-planned communities, airport facilities projects, public college and university facilities and master planning projects, and other public and private projects.

The firm advises both its public agency and private-sector clients regarding NEPA compliance in relation to proposed projects of substantial public controversy that present novel or difficult issues, or have a high potential for eventual litigation. The firm is often called upon to develop strategies to minimize exposure to litigation that could significantly delay a project, or cause other adverse consequences, when a client has determined that a project or planned action is of sufficient importance or requires such strategies.

The firm’s attorneys are well versed in preparing environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, and supporting technical or regulatory documents, and evaluating those same documents for adequacy under NEPA’s implementing statutes, and case law. The firm’s attorneys also have substantial depth of experience in underlying resource-specific and technical issues, including expertise in water supply, climate change, air quality, transportation, and biological resources.
